French Miracles
Editorial Reviews Aage Kvalbein cello We went into Bordeaux with the aim of experiencing for ourselves the modern-day miracles of French wine and music. At a famous vineyard in the Graves district, Domaine de Chevalier, we submitted ourselves to a myriad tastes and experiences of the palate of the basis of the assumption that the French sensibilities and taste in music will also be reflected in the wines they produce that music, as well as wine absorbs something of the local soil, it cultivation and processing. We had already selected 19 pieces of music from the French Baroque, Romantic and Impressionist periods, and now we were looking for the 19 wines that best corresponded to the moods in the various pieces. The list below shows you the outcome. During the course of this process three things surprised us in particular: how the different wines could affect out experience of the music, how the different pieces of music could affect the taste of the wine, and the degree to which we always agreed on which wines best complemented which pieces of music.
