Album Description
"Rhapsody in Bassoon" is a marvelous CD. Simply put, William Ludwig displays one of the most emotional and sensitive bassoon performances to date. The CD opens with his adaptation of Beethovens "Sonata No. 3 in A Major for Piano and Violincello, opus 69" and is followed by the romantic love song, "Concerto for Bassoon and Piano" by Marcel Bitsch. The feeling of love is further displayed by Ludwigs performance of Andre Previns "Sonata for Bassoon and Piano", which was Previns gift to his bassoonist girlfriend. The final selection is inspiration for the title, Walter Mays "Rhapsody for Bassoon and PIano". This literature is impeccably performed and recorded. You might even find yourself interested in playing this CD for your dinner parties.
