Editorial Reviews While in college, Kenneth added to his repertoire of instruments by learning to play electric bass and performing for several years with his college jazz band. For the past three years he has played with the rock band Unspun, performing extensively throughout Oregon and Washington and self-producing an Unspun CD. Kenneth is also a teacher of music. He teaches private lessons in piano, music theory, percussion, guitar and strings for the Jewell School District in Jewell, Oregon. He currently resides in Tigard, Oregon. Kenneth Roberts is an insightful, intuitive, and passionate person. Of utmost importance to him is the concept of relationship- to God, family, friends, and self. Music, to him, is not a job or a mere interest. It is an integral part of life where self-expression is not hindered by the fallibility of words, but comes straight from the soul in the form of music. This, along with his variety of musical experiences, sets him apart as a musician and as a person. The pieces, which are notably classical in form, are meditative in quality. The ebb and flow of the melodies allure the listener as the beautifully executed modulations elicit poignant contemplation. Each scene connects, without fault, to the others; the transitions are allayed by the sounds of nature. Listen and enjoy. The music speaks best for itself.
About the Artist
Kenneth Roberts is a gifted musician. At the age of two his interest in music became apparent, and when he was four he began formal lessons on the piano. As a teen he toured Europe with the Portland Youth Philharmonic playing viola. Kenneth's studies of piano and viola, however, were just one aspect of his growing musicianship. While attending high school, a strong interest in composition led him to study with Dr. Walter Saul, an award-winning composer, who is Professor of Music at Warner Pacific College in Portland, Oregon. After graduating from Lake Oswego High School, Kenneth studied Music Theory/Composition, as well as Music Studies, at Warner Pacific College. Kenneth's many compositions include works for piano, orchestra, band, and other musical mediums. One of his orchestral works has been performed in Anaheim, California at Disneyland and many of his compositions have been heard internationally in countries including Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, England and Canada.
