I had the fortune to record this CD on an amazing instrument, the Steinway on the stage of the Wharton Center in East Lansing, Michigan. It has the fullest, richest, most sensuous sound capability of any keyboard I’ve ever played; it beats any other piano – including any other Steinway – hands down. The warmth of the hall compliments the piano’s sound, and all of this is helps to give make the Brahms as robust and romantic as luscious bittersweet chocolate and whipped cream. It also allows the Ravel to hang in the air like a fog over the Themes.

About the Artist
Jeffery Kleinsorge began his piano studies at the age of twelve, a bit later than most. His early successes brought him first to the attention of Van Cliburn gold-medallist Ralph Votapek, with whom he studied for several years, and then to New York where he studied with several highly-acclaimed pianists, principally Constance Keene. Mr. Kleinsorge is also a noted composer; the Michigan Music Teachers Association recently selected him as "Composer of the Year" and commissioned two piano works... read more
