The fundamental objective of the ROUTERmate family is reducing the cost of network ownership. This is accomplished by providing highly reliable and flexible solutions for wide area network access that combine low cost and comprehensive management. ROUTERmate is offered in standalone and rack mount con- figurations. Only Osicom Technologies can provide network administrators with the choice of creating a network using separate routers and ROUTERmate units or combining these technologies in a single ROUTERmate Plus solution. ROUTERmate-56 provides user-friendly, menu-driven configuration and management screens. Support for SNMP, Telnet, and async terminal control set the standard for management flexibility in this price range. Units are offered in both standalone and rack mount models. Rack mount models install easily into a ROUTERmate MiniRack. SNMP management is possible from any popular SNMP platform. A Graphical User Interface is also available for use with Castle Rock s SNMPc Windows-based software. The ROUTERmate-56 can also be accessed from anywhere on the network by any device that uses the industry-standard Telnet protocol. This is particularly valuable for troubleshooting. A technician can remotely monitor operation and run diagnostics. A password routine prevents unauthorized access. The ROUTERmate-56 communicates with the SNMP or Telnet manager by using the industry-standard Serial Line Interface Protocol (SLIP). An unattended ROUTERmate-56 can respond to V.54 commands from the carrier, or from a remote multiplexer, CSU/DSU or other V.54-capable device. With industry-standard loopbacks and a built-in bit error rate tester (BERT), circuit performance can be measured with- out external test equipment.
