The ROUTERmate-T3 is the latest in the ROUTERmate family of products designed specifically for today's high-speed networking needs. These products provide reliable access to wide area, public and private networks. ROUTERmate's flexible management facilities assure maximum uptime and lower operational costs. This is the enhanced version of Osicom Technologies' ROUTERmate -T3 CSU/DSU. This enhanced unit now provides pass-through monitoring and "SmartJack" functionality in addition to proactive out-of-band management functionality. It automatically dials up and reports T3 circuit faults to a network operations center, allows network operators remote management capabilities for monitoring and testing of lines, and provides access to other on-site equipment. These unique enhancements make the ROUTERmate-T3 an ideal choice for service providers who want to improve their ability to monitor, isolate, and test DS-3 circuits.By installing ROUTERmate-T3 at the customer premise, or any other critical point within the network, service providers will be able to conduct unobtrusive circuit monitoring for their T3 customers and perform diagnostics and fault isolation during network failures. Additionally, the unit can prevent false network alarms by performing loops or sending keep-alive codes if the customer's DS-3 signal is removed. For customer premise applications, the ROUTERmate-T3 may be used as an enhanced CSU/DSU that connects the customer's DTE equipment to the DS-3 service through a High Speed Serial Interface (HSSI). In the pass-through monitor mode, the unit passes the unmodified DS-3 signal from the coaxial BNC network interfaces to the BNC customer interfaces. This mode gives service providers the ability to isolate their network from the customer's equipment and to quickly identify service problems on the local loop. The unit serves as the demarcation point between the customer premise and the provider's network.
