The D-Link DWL-1000AP is an IEEE 8.02.11b-compliant, 11 Mbps wireless Ethernet access point designed for use in home and office environments.
The DWL-1000AP supports a 40-bit Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) encryption, MAC address control, and user authentication to ensure a secure network connection. When connected to an Ethernet LAN, the DWL-1000AP automatically identifies the IP of the host PC as well as the subnet, or you can assign the IP manually. You can also set the bandwidth data transmission rate to automatically use the dynamic auto-sensing configuration or to a manual rate of 11 Mbps, 5.5 Mbps, 2 Mbps, or 1 Mbps.
The wireless access point is bundled with two 11 Mbps DWL-120 network adapters, which provide high performance and are IEEE 802.11b compliant. With an easy-to-use USB interface, the wireless network adapter enables you to share hard disk drives, DVD-ROM and CD-ROM drives, Zip drives, and printers. The adapter also provides shared access to an analog, cable, or DSL modem for Internet access.
Both the DWL-1000AP and DWL-120 operate in a 2.4 GHz direct-sequence spread spectrum (DSSS), which provides transparent bridging and roaming capabilities to wireless nodes at ranges of up to 100 meters indoors and 300 meters outdoors. The DWL-120 can be used point to point or in conjunction with the access point to extend the reach of its communications capability.
D-Link provides a lifetime warranty on parts and labor for both the DWL-1000AP and the DWL-120.
