The 3Com 10/100 PCI EtherLink network interface card (NIC) offers LAN security at 10/100 Mbps speed. Ideal for e-commerce, financial, government, engineering, or health care applications, it can reduce CPU utilization and enhance host system performance by offloading TCP/IP networking tasks to the 3XP processor, including TCP segmentation/addressing and TCP/IP checksum. In addition, the encryption chip offloads IPSec encryption such as 3DES, DES, MD5, and SHA-1 for more reliable, secure connections.
Using a 32-bit PCI interface, the NIC works with PCs and most major operating systems. It is fully standards compliant, supporting 802.3, 802.3u, PC99, WfM, and DMI. (Windows 2000 is required for offload capabilities.)
