This multiprotocol adapter supports a wide variety of protocols - synchronous, bisynchronous and asynchronous communications. Programmable data transfer modes provide flexibility in system configuration. Plug and Play makes installation easy and quick.This adapter is based on a CMOS Dual Universal Serial Communications Controller (CDUSCC). The PCI interface is provided via a PLD PCI Bus Master Interface Chip. The CDUSCC and the PLD both have DMA capabilities, but the two DMA interfaces are not completely compatible. The merger of the two DMA interfaces is managed by the PLD. It supports asynchronous (up to 115.2Kbps), synchronous (up to 57.6Kbps) and bisynchronous (up to 57.6Kbps) modes. While all three of the protocols are available on the PCI Multiprotocol Adapter, only the synchronous communications drivers are available. The driver is included with the IBM Personal Communications software.
