The 3Com Firewall Fiber-FX PCI Card with 100 LAN works with the 3Com Embedded Firewall Policy Server, extending centrally managed, hardware-enforced network security to desktops and servers across the organization. Unlike software-only firewalls, firewall card hardware is practically impervious to user actions or malicious code. Embedded firewall-client systems are practically impossible to exploit as launching pads for a network attack.This fiber-compatible firewall card replaces the conventional 100BASE-FX LAN connection in server and desktop PCs. It's ideal for locations exposed to electrical interference or for time-sensitive converged transmissions, such as voice and video. In addition to offloading firewall processing, the onboard security processor handles TCP and encryption tasks.This product contains encryption and may require U.S. and/or local government authorization prior to export or import to another country. Firewall functionality and management require 3Com Embedded Firewall Policy Server (sold separately). TCP and encryption offloads require Windows XP or 2000 operating system.
