Product Description
The RapidFire 3140V2 Token Ring 16/4 PCI adapter offers high performance, low CPU utilization and a rich set of valuable features, such as Wake-on-LAN and ACPI wake-up support. RapidFire 3140V2 is easily integrated into any network. It is compatible with the latest PCI-based systems and supports automatic detection as well as the latest Token Ring features. As well as ease-of-use, cost effective pricing and high performance, RapidFire 3140V2 supports the latest industry initiatives including Wake-on-LAN, Remote Boot, ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) and promiscuous mode (network interrogation) support. Magic Packet Wake-on-LAN is a remote power management technology that allows network administrators the capability to remotely manage their PCs during the PCs normal downtime. The BootROM socket allows remote boot functionality. This gives Network Administrators the ability to make PC start up more secure and controllable. The Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) is a new industry standard for PCI devices. It allows an ACPI-aware PC to understand the power consumption requirements of each PCI device. This means an ACPI operating system such as Windows 98 or Windows 2000 can economically control the power state of a PC. The PC can be automatically placed in a low power state and quickly resume full operation at the command of the user or of a remote management console using Microsoft OnNow.
