This allows each port to take full advantage of the high transmission speeds that are possible with today's V.34, 56 Kbps and V.90 modems, and ISDN terminal adapters. Digi achieves its high performance by combining an on-board RISC-based processor with its patented Front End Processor/Operating System (FEP/OS). The FEP/OS reduces server I/O overhead by handling serial I/O communication interrupts, character processing and data transfers. As a result, applications run faster. Hardware/software flow control delivers the absolute data integrity required for demanding remote access environments.
