Product Description
The Paragon 2-user, 16-port Matrix Switching Unit (UMT2161) is the first all Category 5 UTP cable-based KVM switch for small to mid-sized (SMB) data centers and server rooms. This product brings the enhanced cable management, extended distances, modular architecture and easy expandability of the award-winning Paragon to SMBs, at an entry-level price. The UMT2161 Matrix Switching Unit is the first Paragon model to feature a local KVM user port, for access via PS/2 or Sun keyboard right at the server rack without the need for a separate User Station, plus one Cat5 user port for convenient access up to 1, 000 feet away from the rack. Since access is totally non-blocked, two users can access up to 16 multi-platform servers simultaneously. The UMT2161 will provide an administrator with convenient access at the rack and another access point in the NOC or at his desk. It is contained in a small, rack-mountable 1U form factor, and, as a member of the Paragon family, it is easily expanded to support additional servers and users. The Paragon UMT2161 Matrix Switching Unit supports the same Paragon User Station, CIMs and on-screen user interface as the current 32, 42 and 64-port models, so that the user can scale up seamlessly using all Paragon models. It also supports all Paragon Ready products for management of all data center devices via the powerful Paragon user interface, including other Raritan switches, like the innovative Z-Series, and products of other major vendors, like the IBM x330.
