These high-performance Fast Ethernet NETGEAR FS518 switch provides 16 10/100 Mbps switched ports and two 1, 000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet fiber ports. The switched 10/100 Mbps ports are ideal for segmenting networks into small, connected subnetworks for superior performance, enabling the most demanding multimedia and imaging applications over the network. The Gigabit Ethernet port provides a high-bandwidth link to the server or the network backbone.Each port provides dedicated 10 or 100 Mbps (megabits per second) bandwidth for connecting one or more PCs, servers, and hubs. In full-duplex mode, each port supports up to 200 Mbps of throughput. If an individual subnetwork is upgraded from 10 to 100 Mbps, the corresponding port on the FS518 network ports will change to the higher speed automatically. Gigabit uplink enables multiple 100Mbps clients to access the server or backbone network concurrently, without creating a bottleneck.
