The AT-9006SX/SC is a feature-rich, highly cost-effective Layer 2 Gigabit Ethernet switch featuring six fixed 1000BaseSX (SC) fiber ports and two optional modular ports. The switch is built using a high-bandwidth 16Gbps switching fabric that is coupled with up to 12Mbytes of buffer memory. This high bandwidth switch fabric and buffer combination allows the switch to achieve high-speed performance on all Gigabit ports simultaneously. Gigabit Ethernet switches are used predominantly as backbone devices in evolving and new network architectures, and are required to support all the advanced features deployed throughout today's networks. The AT-9006SX/SC supports IEEE 802.1p Priority Queuing for applications such as video conferencing and IEEE 802.1Q VLAN Tagging for the logical sub-division of a network into functional workgroups. Other features include IGMP Snooping, which improves the performance of multi-cast packets throughout the network. With the understanding that many networks evolve, the AT-9006SX/SC has been designed both to allow inter-connection with legacy LANs, while also being able to span large distances by inserting a range of optional modular ports. These modules are common with Allied Telesyn's AT-8200XL family of Fast Ethernet switches. The AT-9006SX supports two modular ports, each of which is capable of supporting a single Gigabit SX, LX or T port, two ports of fiber Fast Ethernet or four ports of 10/100TX Fast Ethernet. The switch supports a complete range of management including both SNMP Web-based and Telnet management. This allows the switch to be easily integrated into any existing network. The switch also supports basic RMON functionality, but also allows port mirroring for users who wish to attach a full RMON probe for a complete understanding of network traffic patterns.
