The Allied Telesyn AT-8200XL series of Fast Ethernet switches combines exceptional performance, with ease of use and flexibility at an affordable price. With a non-blocking switching architecture and full-wire speed performance on all ports, these switches are ideal for high density workgroups or backbone networks where performance is required. When used in critical networks, these switches can be installed along with an optional redundant power supply module, to ensure continuous operation of the network even in the event of a power supply failure.The AT-8200XL series switches all feature two optional upgrade expansion slots. Each expansion slot can be configured to provide either two additional Fast Ethernet fiber ports, four additional 10/100 copper ports, or one gigabit port (SX or LX). The switch can therefore be used as either a backbone switch for smaller workgroups, or as a workgroup switch in larger installations featuring a gigabit backbone switch. The flexible expansion capability of these switches makes them ideal for applications where the needs of tomorrow's network are unsure. All the switches are well equipped and feature IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tagging, allowing either one, or a series of switches to segment a network into smaller workgroups. Where customers have bandwidth hungry or time-sensitive traffic such as video conferencing, these switches can be programmed to prioritize this traffic over other types of data. These switches feature internal RMON, IGMP Snooping, and port trunking, and can also provide port mirroring to an external device should that be required. Although the AT-8200XL series switches can be used as plug and play devices, an extensive range of management is provided. Management features include web-based management, SNMP, Telnet, and Omega Command Line Interface, allowing the switches to be controlled by a variety of management platforms.
