The FX826ES Switch is ideal for operating fiber optic networks and it is designed for bandwidth-constrained workgroups, which require faster speed connections. This Switch allows you to join a 100Mbps Fast Ethernet to an existing 10Mbps Ethernet network. Its internal cache buffers the traffic from higher bandwidth 100Mbps segments to 10Mbps segments. The Switch ports will automatically adjust to 100Mbps operations if both segments are later designated as 100Mbps. Moreover, by splitting a network into several segments and bridging them, you can reduce the traffic load on your network and decrease collisions on each segment. It features "wire-speed" switching mechanisms as well as the ability to filter local traffic, collisions, and error packets to maximize network performance.The FX826ES provides high performance fiber optic connectivity for 10 and 100Mbps integrated networks. Simple plug & play operation is combined with advanced features to deliver high-performance ASIC-based switching. Each port can be individually configured for half or full-duplex operation for optimum network performance. Wire speed and 2MB buffer memory virtually eliminate network congestion and jitter. The store and forward operation automatically filters packets with receive errors ensuring data reliability. To serve the functions of workgroups as well as entire departments, the address table stores up to 8K worth of MAC addresses. The Auto-learning capability eliminates the need for extensive setup. For scalability, a cascade port on the back of the unit provides a 200Mbps full-duplex data connection between two fiber switches.
