The Allied Telesyn AT-8300 series of stackable Fast Ethernet switches combines exceptional performance with ease of use and flexibility at an affordable price. Each switch is designed for maximum performance using a non-blocking switching architecture to achieve full wire speed performance on all ports. When stacked together, up to eight switches share a 16Gbps switching matrix, allowing traffic to flow across switches with minimal effort. When used in critical networks, the switches can be installed along with an optional redundant power supply module to ensure continuous operation of the network even in the event of a power supply failure. Up to three switches can be stacked together in a 'mini-stack' mode, by simply inter-connecting the stacking port on the switches with a cable. This allows users to build a single switching fabric with up to 96 Fast Ethernet copper ports or 60 fiber ports. All the switches are well equipped and feature IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tagging, allowing VLANs to be configured for either one standalone switch, a stack of switches, or a series of switches inter-connected with standard cables. Where customers have bandwidth hungry or time-sensitive traffic such as video conferencing, the switches also can be programmed to prioritize this traffic over other types of data using standard IEEE 802.1p Class of Service. The switches feature internal RMON, IGMP Snooping, and port trunking, and can also provide port mirroring to an external device should that be required. Although the AT-8300 series switches can be used as plug and play devices, an extensive range of management is provided. Management features include web-based management, SNMP, Telnet, and Omega Command Line Interface, allowing the switches to be controlled by a variety of management platforms.
