SMC's TigerSwitch ATM switch products, coupled with SMC's ATM Power family of 155 Mbps and 25 Mbps network cards, provide a comprehensive workgroup solution for ATM networks and an easy migration path for legacy LANs. Based on a modular design, these high-performance switches can be configured with a combination of 155 Mbps and 25 Mbps ATM ports, along with bridge/router ports for 10BASE-T Ethernet and 100BASE TX Fast Ethernet. Two chassis are available. One has twelve 25 Mbps ATM ports and three expansion slots. The other has three expansion slots and is available separately or with six 155 Mbps ATM ports. With a wide range of expansion modules, over 120 switch configurations are possible, so you can buy what you need when you need it. These non-blocking, output buffered ATM switches have a capacity of 1 Gbps and a switching bus that supports unicast, multi-cast and broadcast capabilities. They employ custom ASICs that have been optimized for ATM applications. What's more, SMC has implemented the industry's first QFC (Quantum Flow Control) solution for ABR (Available Bit Rate) service, so the performance of these switches, relative to other ATM products, is superior. Their compliance with ATM Forum specifications ensures interoperability with products from all leading ATM network vendors. And, with software that is easily upgradable, these switches will be compliant for years to come. Today, ATM provides the bandwidth and features necessary for demanding workgroup applications, such as integrated voice, video, and data, that require guaranteed data rates and Quality of Service (QoS). And SMC, as a high-volume LAN manufacturer, provides the experience to ensure that the benefits of ATM are available in traditional PC networking environments.
