This allows for seamless boot-up, even while the switch is connecting the keyboard and mouse to another PC. This critical feature, not present in manual switches, prevents CPU lock-up. Should a reboot be necessary on a CPU not currently connected to the keyboard/mouse via the switch, the emulation allows seamless reboot following an unplanned shutdown.
