The EtherPower II 10/100 cards set a new standard in Fast Ethernet performance, reliability, and easy installation. Based on SMC's advanced silicon technology and Intelligent PowerProcessing features, these state-of-the-art cards increase the efficiency of your network. They also support dual-speed operation to automatically select the optimum data rate and half or full-duplex transmission mode.Each EtherPower II 10/100 card has a 100BaseTX port that automatically detects and configures itself for connection to a 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps network. Each card also auto-configures for half or full-duplex mode, effectively doubling the available bandwidth to 20 Mbps on a 10 Mbps switch and to 200 Mbps on a 100 Mbps switch. All models provide Wake-on-LAN (WOL) support. WOL enables network managers to remotely power up systems, make routine updates and backups, and shut down the systems. In this way, WOL not only simplifies updates and backups for administrators; it also increases end-user productivity by moving such planned disruptions to off-hours after users have gone home. All EtherPower II 10/100 cards support SMC's unique SimulTasking pipelined data transfer technology and Programmable InterPacket Gap capabilities for top performance. They also provide Transmit Chaining and Preemptive Interrupt features that minimize CPU utilization and maximize throughput. All EtherPower II 10/100 cards come with EZStart, SMC's friendly utility for installing drivers and running diagnostics. They also come with SMC's SuperDisk for hassle-free driver installations in Windows 95 and NT environments. All EtherPower II 10/100 cards include a Boot ROM socket for PCI diskless systems. The EtherPower II 10/100 series provides a comprehensive set of "at-a-glance" LEDs that display link status and network activity.
