The Aironet PCMCIA 4800 Series Wireless LAN Adapters allow PCMCIA enabled computers to be quickly and cost-effectively added to a network - without running wires or maintaining costly wired cable infrastructures. Now changing a LAN configuration or installing computers in hard-to-wire places couldn't be easier. Equipment can be placed wherever productivity dictates and moved as needs change - without the expense or delay of wiring. The Aironet 4800 Series adapters are network interface cards (NIC) and allow access to network resources anywhere within the coverage area of an Aironet Access Point. Aironet adapters can also be configured to form a completely wireless peer-to-peer network for temporary workgroups or small businesses. And the Aironet 4800 Series achieves speeds equal to Ethernet, so wireless network users no longer have to settle for slower data rates to have a network connection that they can take with them. Utilizing direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) radio frequency technology, the Aironet 4800 Series is designed to the IEEE 802.11 standard for wireless LANs - providing interoperability with other systems. Automatic data rate selection maintains network connections at the fringes of cell coverage for increased performance and reliability.
