Book Description
With this book, you can:
- Start writing synthesizable Verilog models quickly.
- See what constructs are supported for synthesis and how these map to hardware so that you can get the desired logic.
- Learn techniques to help avoid having functional mismatches.
- Immediately start using many of the models for commonly used hardware elements described for your own use or modify these for your own application.

Useful for Learning Verilog which can be Synthesized.......2007-03-31
I used the book with the XILINX version of ModelSim, a Verilog Simulator.
My goal was to be able to generate synthsizable Verilog without a lot of experimentation.
The style is by example. It is a good source of useful Verilog coding.
It is assumed you have some background in Verilog.
The book could use some tables on logic operators.
I think people who want to learn and use Verilog for synthesizable designs would benifit from having this book close at hand. It could be a really useful text for college students.
This is a very good (and short) book on Verilog synthesis.......2001-11-17
The author does a very good job of covering synthesizable Verilog. The numerous examples provide the reader with solid Verilog coding style guidelines. In addition, the author's discussion of blocking and non-blocking assignment statements for synthesizing combinational and sequential logic is very clear and concise. The only complaint I have about the book is its weak treatment of parameterizable design for synthesis. Despite the drawback, this is a very good reference and coding style guide for writing synthesizable Verilog.
A Synthesis Book...At Last.......2001-08-02
I write this review for two books: Verilog HDL Primer and Verilog HDL "SYNTEHSIS" Primer. Both books are primers, but serve the title very well. The books are straight to the point and do not "ramble" with grammar (ie. he tells you what it is you need to know and does not attempt to distract you). This is the book I use when I look for Verilog contructs for synthesis. The examples resemble closer to real world application including techniques in modeling digital systems. No comparison to the "other" Verilog text (Palnitkar). These two books complement one another. Another good verilog book is by Sternheim, but it is relatively expensive and hard to get.
Best Verilog Synthsis book.......2001-07-28
This is the best book about the Verilog Synthesis. The book is very practical, and I immediately applied many examples into my work....
Great Verilog info for Synthesis.......2000-09-14
This book is an excellant reference for anyone writing Verilog for synthesis. I found the examples useful and complete.

Book Description
Logic Primer presents a rigorous introduction to natural deduction systems of sentential and first-order logic. The text is designed to foster the student-instructor relationship. The key concepts are laid out in concise definitions and comments, with the expectation that the instructor will elaborate upon them. New to the second edition is the addition of material on the logic of identity in chapters 3 and 4. An innovative interactive Web site, consisting of a "Logic Daemon" and a "Quizmaster," encourages students to formulate their own proofs and links them to appropriate explanations in the book.

Not Meant To Stand Alone.......2006-12-19
Had the previous reviewer bothered to read the preface to this text, he would have found that the book was meant to be used with an instructor: the first two sentences read, "The most important thing for you to know about this book is that it is designed to be used with a teacher. You should not expect to learn logic from this book alone..."
Contra the previous review, I found this textbook to be tremendously helpful. I was fortunate enough to study with Dr. Bill Robinson, who worked hard to insure that his lectures adequately explained the material: the book complemented that instruction. If I needed to refer back for the formal definition of a term or rule, I had the book to rely on. The definitions were clearly worded, and made plain sense (when coupled with the high level of classroom instruction) and the examples and exercises were helpful for understanding and practice. Step-by-step solutions were given at the back of the book for selected problems. In short, this text provided a useful complement to the fine instruction I received in symbolic logic, and, when properly used in concert with such instruction, should provide any beginning practioner of symbolic logic the tools he needs to begin to his foray into the world of logic.
Nothing more than a specialized dictionary.......2005-07-01
The book is set up to be nothing more than a guide to the terminology of logic. The examples are scarce and for most people in the class, including me, which used this book were lost. The lecturer had to hold our hands through the whole course. If you had a question, look in the book and feel even more lost. It does give good definitions for the terms but has little in the way of practical application. The exercises would have been more helpful if they had given a step-by-step example of how they are solved. This only occurred at the beginning of the book as I guess the authors assumed that you would have it down after chapter 2. This also might have been a failing of my comprehension as I was told that once you have the formulas down then you can apply them to anything. I doubt that since our tests in this class were curved 30 points. I do not know that there are other books out there to cover this topic but I wish there was. In short, unless you already are an advanced student of philosophy or logic this book will be nothing more than alphabet soup.

Book Description
This book is meant to be a primer, that is an introduction, to probability logic, a subject that appears to be in its infancy. Probability logic is a subject envisioned by Hans Reichenbach and largely created by Adams. It treats conditionals as bearers of conditional probabilities and discusses an appropriate sense of validity for arguments such conditionals, as well as ordinary statements as premises. This is a clear well written text on the subject of probability logic, suitable for advanced undergraduates or graduates, but also of interest to professional philosophers. There are well thought out exercises, and a number of advanced topics treated in appendices, while some are brought up in exercises and some are alluded to only in footnotes. By this means it is hoped that the reader will at least be made aware of most of the important ramifications of the subject and its tie-ins with current research, and will have some indications concerning recent and relevant literature.
