Customer Reviews:
Good Study Guide for the price.......2007-04-12
I am currently studying for the network+ exam and I chose this book because it comes with a cd with over 650 questions. I previously purchased the A+ exam cram book and passed it with ease. I also purchased the CCNA book and passed the intro exam. I'll take the ICND in a few months. Make sure you get the exam cram book with the measure up test engine, the prep logic test engine doesn't have nearly as many questions. You can tell by looking at the front cover of the book.
The only draw back to the testing engine is that a handful of questions have the wrong answers. The explanations for these questions do not match the answers given. 5 questions at the most.
This is a good substitute for the study guides that costs more than the exam itself.
Excellent preparation tool........2007-01-11
The practice CD that comes with this book is a fine study tool for Exam N10-003. When I installed the disk, I was given the option to download the update to the question base. I'm assuming that some of the questions others have complained about were corrected with the update. I couldn't find any wrong answers, and the explanations were right on target. These questions serve to drive Network+ concepts home. They may not be the exact questions that are on the actual test, but they sure do help in preparing you for the exam.
Very Helpful.......2006-08-05
This is the 3rd book I used to help me pass the Exam. First, I bought a big thick one, then a smaller one, and finally this one. The main reason I bought this book was for the questions: 650 practice questions! All the other training books just give you 10 questions per chapter; no way near enough to test someone. However, my suggestion is to not even use the book. Just use the CD that comes with it, becuase it has all the questions from the book, and you can grade your answer instantly instead of having to turn to all different pages.
I will admit though, there are some errors on questions. I've found quite a few mistakes in this book, but at any rate, these book really helps out. I took the test today and saw some quite a couple of similar questions from this book on the exam.
Frustrating .......2006-03-14
I'd say about 70% of the book's content is okay. Not an excellent measure of your networking knowledge, but a start. The other 30% is purely fluff. But when you add it all together, this book is 100% frustrating.
First the fluff part: You are asked a question about a given topic. Then you are asked virtually the exact same question again. Four questions later - Yep, there's that question again. Turn the page - again. Asking the same question (on the same page or within pages of each other) 3 or 4 times with little modification is such a waste of time. The knowledge can be tested in just one. If it is important enough to ask again, at least approach it from a different perspective.
Second - and the worst part - was that time and time again the correct answer to a question was miss-marked in the answer key. For example, if the answer was supposed to be C. HTML, the detailed explanation of the answer in the back of the book would say something like "Yes! You're right: The answer is A. HTML," which also meant that the quick answer key was wrong as well. So, expect lots of extra work trying to decipher the correct answer and the confusion that usually comes with it. I must have come across this 20 or 30 times in a book with hundreds of questions. Simply unacceptable.
Because of these two reasons, I nearly threw this book in the garbage a few times. Sad to say that the Exam Cram series' credibility - and Ed Tittel's famed "editing abilities" - takes a hit with this one.
Do Not Buy This Book!.......2006-01-17
I was highly disappointed at the inaccuracy of the questions (min 4/per chapter as another reviewer wrote). I had taken a Net+ class about a year ago and worked 5 yrs in Techsupport so I wanted this to be a refresher. ExamCram test prep showed I was scoring 95 - 98% so I felt confident on taking the exam. When I read the questions on the exam, my heart sank. The book did NOT prepare me for the exam. There were items on there the practice questions didn't cover. Needless to say I didn't pass, am very disappointed in this product and it's going in the trash. Don't make the same mistake I did! Buy another book!!!

I bought this book for last minute prep for my exam and I found
out it is nothing like the real exam, It doesn't really give you a feel for the real exam,There are other exam preps material out there that gives you more of a feel for the real exam than this book.
Worked for me!.......2004-05-21
Looking for a final prep tool for the CCNA 640-801 exam than try this 500+ questions and answer book from Exam Cram2. Broken into topics from ISDN for frame relay this book gives the questions and the answer with explanation to help you get ready for a very tough exam.
The material is very accurate and technically correct. Also the book has a cd included and while the 500 question from the book are also included with the cd there is an added pair of bonuses. The questions are in a MeasureUp format which will give you a feel for the real exam.
The cd also has a copy of the highly acclaimed RouterSim to work with to give the hands on experience you'll need to pass the exam and also use in real world situations. Overall this is a great addition to the study tools for the 801 exam and anyone serious about passing needs to add this to his list.
Great idea, great price.......2004-04-16
People tend to be unforgiving of technical errors in materials that are purchased for certification. It's just careless work. The book is an excellent source for test questions. The material on the cd has errors which are irritating when you find them.

Too many errors............2007-04-29
I got about 200 pgs into the book when i realized the errors and blatant contradictions were adding up. I've counted at least 6 errors. Since when is DYSPHAGIA an impairment in speech due to a brain lesion????? i'm really pissed because i've wasted alot of time utilizing this book and now i'm not sure if i've read even more errors and just didn't catch them. Studying incorrect information is NOT conducive toward passing the NCLEX.
Helpful NCLEX Study Aid!.......2007-03-15
The Nclex-RN Exam Cram is my favorite NCLEX study aid. I have bought about 14 NCLEX RN books, but they were too big and bulky. I work full time and I have 2 small children and always on the go. I needed a study that is straight to the point, not wordy, doesn't use high-falutin words, and small enough to carry anywhere. This book helped me alot. I passed!
Great!!.......2006-08-13
I loved this book!!! One of the many study aids I have purchased, but by far one of my favorites! Loaded with information. And gives you an easy way to remember classes of some important drugs!! I passed my test and the drugs I saw on that test I used the exam cram method of remembering what it was used for. Excellent study aid but you should also purchase a book that has nothing but multiple choice questions for you to do!!!
Worth more than words can say.......2005-08-02
This book helped me prepare for State Boards and I passed!!!! The info was helpful and provided me with new knowledge. I would recommend this book to any nursing student getting ready for the NCLEX exam. I threw away all other handouts and study guides when I recieved this book and studied only from it. The info was so easy to comprehend and well organized. Excellent purchase!!!!

Customer Reviews:
Exam Cram2.......2007-01-10
Great series of books. Very helpful in passing the A+ exam. Delivered exactly as promised. I would definately recomend this to anyone!
Helpful but not comprehensive.......2006-01-10
I will be honest - I've got about 3 years on the job experience in tech support and I was required to pass A+ as a condition of my current employment. So, I got this book because it had the same goal: pass the test and be done with it. It does it make it quite clear that the authors do not expect this will be your only resource for taking the test. For me, it's all I used (in addition to my hands-on experience). I passed my tests last Friday by a decent margin, and I have to admit that a lot of the questions I saw were practically lifted from the book. My understanding is that those who wrote it have all taken the test and are familiar with the questions asked.
There were several times when I wanted to throw the book down and scream - at CompTIA, not the authors. The book is very honest about the fact that the test is deceptive and almost designed to make you fail, by giving you misleading information and sometimes asking questions where none of the answers (or all!) are right, but you have to pick the most likely one. Fortunately, on the test no question was THAT bad, so in that regard it was a useful preparation, as I was ready for pretty much anything.
No book will replace personal experience, so I recommend you to have opened some computers, maybe even built one or two, and done a lot of tinkering with them before sitting down for this. There was still a lot of technical information I've never learned in this book, though, so it has its merits.
Pros:
*Good price
*Attempts to cover a lot of information even if it's not all thorough
*Lots of practice questions
*If you have worked with computers a lot, you really don't need another book, even if some of the concepts are new.
*I liked the humor sprinkled throughout; it makes drudging through 800 pages of computer information a little easier on the ol' noggin.
Cons:
*Discount program for the exam ended October 1. I bought this book partly because of the $90 savings on the test, and I bought it at the end of October, having no idea it wasn't even valid anymore. That they would discontinue it while the book was on the shelf bothers me a lot, and writing to the publisher regarding this never received a response.
*Some questions I saw on the test had zero mention in the book, so it is not comprehensive.
*The practice exams in the book are OK; the questions on the CD are really just for review, because to do a proper test it seems like you have to buy an upgraded version. Still, 210 questions per test was useful (just on the CD).
Basically, if you have some experience with computers, and can make educated guesses on some questions, you should be OK with this book. A passing score really isn't that high, so you don't need to feel like you should know everything there is to know. If you are going for A+ without field experience, do not use this book by itself, and definitely do some work with computers so you are not scratching your head while reading this.
Here's the Latest Update on this book.......2006-01-09
Okay people, here's the latest information on this book. There is definitely enough information in this book for you to pass the 220-301, the hardware exam. But there is NOT enough info in this book for you to pass the 220-302, the operating system technologies half. Regarding the core hardware exam, this book will teach you everything you need to know to pass..so long as you read, remember and can obsorb the material...and of course it never hurts to supplement your knowledge with other books.
On the the OS technologies exam, or the 220-302...the second half of this book, is more like a history book, and does very very little to prepare you for the exam. If you rely on just this book for the OS exam, you will fail. The material you need to know, just is not in this book. If you're looking for a good background, or just getting started in computers, this book would be great, but not for somebody looking to pass the OS technologies exam. Two books that you could supplement this book with, would be the A+ Exam practice questions book, which is very beneficial as you can learn a lot, and the A+ Lab Manual, both are from the exam cram series. It sucks that we can't get the info we need in just one book, the Exam Cram for the entire exam, or both in this case...but the book does next to nothing...the knowledge to answer about 5 to 10 questions..10 at the most..is in this book for the OS technologies exam. I know technology changes..and the exams do right with it...and books can't just be published overnight, but exams can change overnight. Otherwise I'm a big fan of the exam crams...
Good review, too long and many errors.......2005-10-12
Though the book is a good review, it seems to jog wildly off topic for a typical exam cram. My idea of an exam cram is just the information you need to pass the exam. I'm not interested in a history lesson of PC technologies or in-depth discussions of signalling that isn't covered on the exam and isn't used except by hardware engineers.
Secondly, there are many errors, particularly the wireless section which has some serious errors. For example, the book says that 802.11b uses FHSS and 802.11g uses DSSS. This is clearly false. 802.11b uses DSSS, and 802.11g uses OFDM. There are no excuses for these types of errors.
Great Book!.......2005-06-23
I was very confused after reading these reviews, because readers seemed to be talking about a book that isn't the same as the one I was reading. I think I've discovered why: Amazon has mistakenly listed the reviews for the A+ Exam Cram here, when they should only be listing feedback for the Practice Questions book. Bottom line: the Practice Questions book provides just that: practice questions and answers. A thousand of them, and all on a CD as well, too boot! You'd be hard pressed to get your hands on 1,000 practice questions for less than 20 bucks. This book is designed for drill and practice on the concepts covered on the latest A+ exam. That's it -- if you're looking for more, look for a different book, but this book does exactly as it says it will: provide drill and practice so you can better understand the concepts on the A+ exam and score higher.

Well worth the money, helped me pass.......2006-08-12
This book is worth at least twice the listed Amazon price. Not only does it have a LOT of 70-270 Prep Questions, all of those questions are included on the CD and delivered via the MeasureUp engine.
I used this book, the FastPass and lots of hands on to pass the 70-270 exam on my first try.
Good, not great.......2005-07-26
There are too many easy questions, many errors, and the explanations to the answers tell you little more than the obvious. For the price, it's not a bad way to get a bunch of questions though.
BUY THIS BOOK, You will not be disappointed!!!.......2004-07-27
I bought this book and read it over a two week period and passed my exam with flying colors. I can't begin to tell you how awesomely well this book prepared me for the exam. I scored almost 900 out of 1000 from reading this book and doing a couple of practice exams, nothing else just the book and practice exams. The chapter on monitoring and remote access is awesome. There is nothing wrong with this book. This book is a hole in one, a bulls eye, a pefect compliement to your experience and know how. Just make sure that you read it cover to cover. To pass this exam follow these simple steps.
1. Read this book cover to cover
2. Take a few practice exams. Make sure you get an 800 or higher on your practice exams, that will give you wiggle room just in case the test proves harder than you expected.
3. Take your real test. That's it nothing else.
If you want to pass your exam... Then use this book.

Customer Reviews:
Obsolete.......2006-09-06
This book is based on the, no longer available, PMBOK 2000 exam. While 85 - 90% of the material overlaps, you'll be using the wrong material and will end up getting questions wrong on the current exam.
Their accompanyning book, PMP Exam Cram 2, IS aligned to the new exam and says so on the cover. Do not confuse these two books.
Out of date........2006-04-25
Unless you would like to spend time studying for a version of the PMP exam that PMI no longer administers, stay away from this book (Practice Questions). I will verify what a few others have stated concerning the poor quality of the questions and the ironically spotty quality control in the product, but most relevant to my mind is that it deals with (some) topics that are no longer dealt with in the 3rd edition of the PMBOK. There are much better practice question options out there, but you may have to pay a little more for them.
The good and the bad.......2006-04-20
The Bad: As several others have reported, many of the questions are not good. Bad logic, old terminology, I found one where the short answer is incorrect and the 'detailed answer' has nothing to do with the question. Several of the questions were structured with a general PM statement followed by a single sentence question that was disconnected from the statement. For example: There are 50 states in the USA. What is the capital of New York?
The Good: The passing score for the PMP is 61%. If you can score better than 61% on these questions, you're ready for the exam.
Poorly written and inaccurate.......2006-02-05
Don't buy this book! Haven taken a PMP exam prep class and reviewed the actual PMBOK, I purchased this book to help reinforce my knowledge prior to exam day. After only 3 chapters I found over 10 mistakes. Examples include inconsistently referencing knowledge areas as process groups and using terminology from the old PMBOK edition. In addition, the questions were poorly written with answers that don't correspond to the question.
Overall this book is poorly edited and will confuse those without significant PM experience or formal PM / PMP education.
Try something else.
Inadequate for New PMP Exam.......2005-11-27
This book is a waste of money for the new PMP exam. Some of the questions/answers are poorly worded, while some contain flaws in logic. More important, some questions and answers are simply not correct for the new PMP exam. The questions are too general and not directly referenced to the PMBOK - that alone is a warning signal - absolutely no references to the PMBOK to support the author's answers. Warning: This book is not written for the new PMP exam given after October 2005. Pay a little more and get a more complete PMP prep book. I spent money on this book and feel very, very cheated.

Customer Reviews:
Forget the book... buy it for the CD!.......2007-02-25
The CD-ROM that comes with this book is amazing. It has over 700 questions and several ways to take sample tests. If you get a passing score on these you will pass the real exam. If you don't, go back to your other study guides and come back to the CD-ROM and try again.
The book layout was disappointing, I was looking for sample tests and the book is arranged by subject matter. Many of the questions were too easy when you knew the category (many times the category was the answer). I threw it aside and went to the CD-ROM after about 20 minutes.
Good but not great.......2006-09-08
I would use this book as a starting point but would use other sources for a complete review. Lots of question included in this book. I passed the test on my first try but used several sources to study from including this book. Beware of the test. It is very hard and has lots of tricky questions.
Covers all objectives, but not equally well!.......2006-05-12
I always like to have three sources of reference when preparing for a certification exam. I already had the Syngress book and then I pick up this book as part of the Exam Cram2 bundle.
This was my 39th certification exam, so normally; I would never have considered taking such a basic (beginners) exam at this point in my career. I took this exam, since it allowed me to get two certifications with only one exam; the CompTIA Security+ certification and at the same time, it completed the requirements for my Microsoft MCSE Plus Security specialization.
The actual CompTIA exam is a fair test, not too easy, but definitely nowhere near as difficult as Microsoft's more recent exams. Although, I must say, there were many questions on the Security+ exam that were worded quite strangely. I'm sure that they were all 100% grammatically correct, but since I was an instructor and wrote curriculum for over 15 years, I'm very particular when it comes to the wording of test questions. If a typical member of the target audience has to ask, what is the question really asking, then it's a poorly written question. The challenge should be in knowing the answer, not in deciphering the question.
Speaking of poorly written questions. There were many that fall under that category in this Practice Questions book. And some objectives had an abundance of questions while others had only one question. Plus, there were many worthless questions. Since the questions were grouped by objective, it's useless to so many questions whose answerer is simply the name of the objective. If the questions were presented in a random order, that would be a different story.
I found the question to be nothing like the real exam (which in itself isn't a bad thing, its actually a good thing). But the real exam is all multiple choice with only one correct answer per question, many of this book's questions were "select all that's true", without saying how many to select (which in itself isn't a bad thing either). But I felt that many of the answers to these "select all that's true" questions were really stretching the point to be included.
Bottom line, will this book help you prepare. Of course it will. But its not as good as some of the other reviews indicate.
Passed with a score of 96%.......2005-05-10
Most of the question on the exam were either verbatim or very similar to the questions in this book. I recommend using this as a supplement to a study guide (I didn't really use my Exam Cram2 study guide; I used Microsoft's, instead) and testing your knowledge. Once you score near 100% on these questions, then you're ready to take the exam. And you WILL pass!
A Good Book, but the CD isn't from MeasureUp.......2005-01-31
One of the reviewers has said "The book in itself is Ok, but the CD has practice questions from MeasureUp and they want $89 for their practice exam... So for less that $20 for the book, you get $89 worth of practice exam... Good deal".
I bought the book based on this advice. Unfortunately the CD contains only the questions from the book, and the book clearly states this. The test engine is from MeasureUp, NOT the questions.
The questions in the book are arranged by the objectives, and that helps me memorize the facts. (Yes, you do need to memorize a few things).
