Book Description

This first book on the MET++ multimedia application framework provides an in-depth look at the concepts and techniques applied in an object-oriented class library to support multimedia application development. It is a reference for software designers interested in applying object-oriented technologies to multimedia programming, and for developers who want to build multimedia applications by reusing components of the
MET++ framework. MET++ provides a seamlessly integrated architecture which handles the
synchronization of time-dependent, dynamic data such as audio, music, 2D/3D graphics animations and video. The C++ source code of the MET++ multimedia application framework as well as some sample applications are included on the CD-ROM (for UNIX workstations) which comes with the book.

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely Essential for Learning OpenScript.......2002-12-12

This book saved me months of development time and provided key insight to the inner workings of the OpenScript programming language. Also, it provided an indepth knowledge of how Toolbook Instructor works. I would not be half the OpenScript programmer I am without this book. So, if you are new to Toolbook and are using OpenScript, you must have this book. It provided tutorials, examples, and practice exercises to build your skills. I recommend it to all new Toolbook Programmers.

1 out of 5 stars Don't buy the software if you have Windows 98........2000-11-16

I really looked forward to receiving the software version of this book, but when it came and (on 3 1/2" floppies) and I installed it, it kept committing fatal errors. I don't believe that it can be run with Windows 98.

5 out of 5 stars good introduction to OpenScript.......1999-08-18

I already knew programming, but was not familiar with OpenScript. This book introduced me to OpenScript, providing a quick way to learn the language. It is well-written, and suitable for the beginner who has minimal programming experience. Hustedde's writing is clear and logical, making learning easy.
