On-the-go Instrction Because your time is valuable... All Audio All on the go! Beginning level instruction is presented in an all-audio format on 4 digitally-recorded CDs. You have the opportunity to learn on the go, taking advantage of time normally wasted. Study in your car, while exercising, doing yard work anywhere you can safely listen to a CD player. No accompanying books are needed to help you complete the lesson activities. Why can t learning be fun? It can! Linguaphone has chosen to present the allTalk series in an entertaining, soap-opera format. No dry old teacher with a monotone voice putting you to sleep, you follow the adventures of a visitor to a Spanish-speaking country as she interacts with individuals in a variety of interesting situations, learning the language and beginning to understand the culture. Actually learn the language Tired of spending money on language courses that don t work? Did you ever think the problem could be with the course and not you? With Linguaphone s unique learning sequence: Listen, Understand, Speak, you will find yourself actually using the language in no time at all! You are presented with a unit of the language, it is then broken down and explained to you, then you put it back together with greater understanding than just repeating what you may not have understood in the first place. . . . and learn it well! The all Talk methodology not only teaches well, but will have you speaking and understanding basic spoken Spanish in no time at all. Other popular all-audio courses require four times the cds, four times the money and four times the time to do what Linguaphone s allTalk Basic does with 4-one hour CDs.

America Online connects millions of people worldwide to each other and to the World Wide Web. AOL is easy to set up, fun to use, and affordable, making it an excellent connectivity choice. America Online for Dummies shows you how to get online with AOL and how to get the most enjoyment and productivity from it.
Author John Kaufeld assumes little more than readers' elementary familiarity with their operating systems--how to start programs and the like. From that base, he explains how to install the AOL software (he covers AOL 4.0) and get connected for the first time. Then he guides you through the social and informational resources on AOL and the Internet, showing you how to search for information, participate in chats, locate items for sale, and play games. Readers find out how to behave politely online and protect themselves from electronic nebbishes too.
America Online for Dummies focuses almost exclusively on AOL software for Windows--there's little mention of the Macintosh here, which is unfortunate for those getting online for the first time with AOL and an iMac. Regardless, the copious information on content--the bulk of this book--applies to Mac and Windows users alike. --David Wall
Book Description
Now that America Online offers flat-rate, unlimited monthly access, you don't have to watch the clock anxiously while you're logged on. Nevertheless, you don't want to waste time looking through a big reference book to find out how to do things such as send attachments, join chats, or download magazine articles. That's why you should keep
America Online For Dummies Quick Reference handy whenever you venture out onto the highways and byways of this popular commercial online service. Plus, this compact guide (which, incidentally, lies open flat so you don't have to try to juggle book, mouse, and keyboard) offers plenty of practical tips that you may find invaluable as you springboard from America Online onto the World Wide Web. America Online For Dummies Quick Reference covers the newest versions of America Online (Version 3.0) for Windows, Windows 95, and Macs.
Customer Reviews:
Redundant Title.......2003-09-10
I believe the title of this book, "America Online for Dummies," is redundant. They should just called it "America Online" since the "for dummies" part is already implied. Only dummies use AOL, so the title of this book would be like saying "Dentistry for Dentists."
More Helpful Than I thought Steve Case Could be.........2000-10-01
After several years on AOL, I have come to realize that they do not make anything simple or easy. I thought I knew on the in's and out's of shortcuts and tricks on AOL but I was mistaken. The authors did a great job of compiling every question members have ever asked and answers that actually explain themselves. Rather than simply telling the reader this is how to achieve this goal, they walk you through each process. I also have the quick reference for work and I wish I had about forty copies for each of our salesmen who all seem to be computer illiterate. lol
Easy to follow...easy to read.......2000-04-28
Basic and fun to read. Lots of good info to make anyone an AOL expert. From the novice to the expert. Plenty of info on getting started and learning to use the different applications on the program. A real winner!
It was the best reference book about AOL that I have read.......1999-09-02
I was completely new to the whole AOL experience when I purchased this book. I read it cover to cover in two days. It was very easy to comprehend and I loved the way John Kaufeld added humor throughout the whole book. I refer to it on several occasions and usually find something new to experience that I missed before. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is starting out on AOL who needs simple but complete guidance.
It was GREAT!!.......1998-08-14
John Kaufeld is the best computer author I've ever read. His book was knowedgable and informative. The best thing about his books is that he updates the book every time new AOL software is released, so I can ALWAYS read the latest stuff. I spend a HUGE amount of time on AOL, and I even learned some stuff I'd never known before! I would also reccomend his Online Games book, also in the "--for dummies" series.
