A must have DVD..........2007-07-01
First and foremost, I just wanted to say that I thought this was an excellent DVD and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. If you are a fan of classic wrestling, I would highly recommend it. If you are/ were a fan of the Ultimate Warrior, this DVD is an absolute must.
The DVD is about the Ultimate Warrior's rise and fall from fame, but it also showcases many of the wrestlers of the time, including some really funny interviews. It is very well done and brought back many memories for me of when I was young and a huge wrestling fan. I loved it.
OK, this is a one sided documentary and it is clear that the Ultimate Warrior and the WWE did not have a great working relationship. However, I believe that everyone interviewed gave a good account of what transpired. I really don't think that anyone on this DVD was mean spirited or took low blows at the Ultimate Warrior with maybe a couple of exceptions being Bobby Heenen and Rick Flair. Even Vince McMahon came across as light hearted about what transpired and did not seem to hold much ill will towards the Ultimate Warrior. And there were some moments where some of those interviewed admitted to liking him and enjoying working with him (Hulk Hogan comes to mind). Basically, everyone thought he was just crazy.
Admittedly, some parts seemed a bit unfair to the Ultimate Warrior. I mean, they go on and on making fun of his interviews. Yes he was clearly "out there", but how many wrestlers say anything of importance in their interviews. It is usually a bunch of nonsense and lunacy. That's what it's all about. Then they say that the Ultimate Warrior was a "flash in the pan" despite him being in the WWF for over 7 years and being involved in wrestling for well over a decade. They make it seem that the Ultimate Warrior was a short timer and talk about how he could have had a long run if he had been more professional, etc. Let's face it, most wrestlers burn out and can only remain popular for so long. MOST of the guys from the 80's are nowhere to be found with very few exceptions. As for his wrestling skills, they make it seem like he was horrible, but in the next segment admit how great some of his matches were.
But again, I give the WWE credit for coming out with this DVD and they definitely pay respect to the Ultimate Warrior and what he brought to the table. Even Vince McMahon, who states he was royally scr@wed by him, admits that the Ultimate Warrior made a huge mark on wrestling.
Get this DVD, sit back with a cold beer and enjoy some classic wrestling memories...
Terrific Though Biased DVD.......2007-06-27
WWE's nostalgia DVD's are generally pretty good, but this is one that's been done without the participation of it's star. It's interesting that WWE devotes a whole DVD to a guy that generates such contempt, who according to luminaries like Jim Ross, Ted Dibiase and Bobby Heenan had very little to offer. So what we get is an entertaining undoubted hatchet job on an unpopular (at least backstage) performer who was an absolute superstar of his era-regardless of what various WWE peons say.
You get the strong impression that a lot of the interviewee's (Flair, DiBiase) didn't actually know Warrior personally at all.
This makes a fine companion piece to the Ringside's Warrior Shoot DVD that came out in 2005. On it Warrior is belligerent and almost adversarial, clearly he would be a prickly guy to deal with.
BUT the simple facts are that Warriors recollection of some events seem a damn site more credible than the WWE's. For instance Jim Ross saying that Bill Watts territory was 'too physical' for Warrior is baloney, Warrior's recollection seems far more on the money. And as for the rubbish that Warrior was a dud wrestler-also complete garbage. Sure he was no Rey Mysterio, but so what?
But Warrior doesn't play by the rules-and there in the problem lies.
A top DVD-despite bias.
Need A Larger Collection Of Ultimate Warrior.......2007-06-14
This Is A Great Collection, Simply Because The Ultimate Warrior Is Such A Great Superstar. People Could Care Less Abount How Vince McMahan And Even Less About What Million Dollar Man And Bobby The Brain Heenan Think. I Think They All Know Ultimate Warrior Was A Bigger Influence On WWE Than All 3 Of Them Combined But Just Said All Those Negative Things Just To Make The DVD A Little Bit More Interesting And "Controversial" Except For Bobby The Brain Heenan Who You Can Tell REALLY Dispises The Man. I Think Bobby Heenan Was Just Trying To Gain Some Attention From The People Watching The DVD Even If He Stunk Up The Joint During His Segments In The DVD. The Guy Doesn't Know How To Talk Or Make Anything Interesting And I Really Don't Think Anyone Shares His Point Of View About THe Ultimate Warrior. I know He Had Some Bad Blood With The UW But At Least Try To Sound A Bit Interesting While One A Worldwide High Selling DVD. I Mean Learn How To Put A Sentence In Its Correct Structure, Before Even Thinking About Telling People Such BS.
It Was Ok...........2007-05-30
When I first seen a dvd about the ultimate Warrior I didn't hesitate to grab it off the store shelf. I learned a lot about this man, and it's not very pretty if you ask me. I do like The Ultimate Warrior, but I do have to confess, I don't think WWE put much effort into this like they should have. I'm sure some of the commentary was true, But I wish I could of Heard The Ultimate Warriors thoughts. I don't think WWE will bother ressurecting another dvd about the ultimate warrior like they did with Hogan. But I would've liked to have seen a 2 disc Ultimate Warrior dvd, And Actually The Ultimate Warrior Himself throw his 2 cents in, And More matches would've been nice. Who knows maybe they will down the road, just keep your fingers crossed.
Feel me Woyaaahs!! This sucks!.......2007-02-15
On an internet wrestling radio show, someone summed this one up perfectly, "If you were a fan of Warrior, why would you buy it?, and if you hated Warrior, why would you buy it?" Seriously why would you pay money to see something about a guy you either love and don't want to see badmouthed, or a guy you hate and don't wanna waste either the time or money on. Curiosity is the only thing I can think of, I was curious too and felt cheated. NOBODY in the world needs to have a DVD released about what a loser he supposedly is OR claim that he's a coward when he doesn't want to appear on your programming AFTER the video is out to defend himself.
There is also NOTHING on this disc that even says that Warrior was asked to participate with the project. That seriously undermines the intentions of this video since the opposing side isn't there to back up the claims. Hell even Bischoff shows up on the Rise and Fall ECW DVD to defend his company stealing ECW's talent.
The video convinently glosses over some things like his departure in 92, McMahon says there was a "drug test and a violation" YEAH, McMahon coming under the gun for distributing steroids to workers and when Warrior wanted to do something else, McMahon fired him and Davey Boy Smith and pointed the finger at them. The Summerslam 91 match where Vince "as I recall" read LIE says he demanded more money or he wouldn't show. Big rumors go around saying Warrior wanted money for shows he's already done and McMahon hadn't paid up yet. Triple H says he's the most unprofessional guy ever to work with, yeah well Triple H in 96 was on the outs with WWE and Vince wanted Warrior to squash him.
Too many people in the disc (many of whom were kids when Warrior was around so what the hell are they doing on here?) harp about Warrior being too intense and having little skills. In a business thats known for intense guys, whoes the most intense there was, WARRIOR. When WWE pushes guys to the moon that usually don't have the GREATEST technical skills and usually rely on brawling and power attacks, who had this repitoire? WARRIOR. Who is one of the few guys who Hogan EVER put over clean. WARRIOR. Yeah this guy sucks alright. Don't get me wrong, I'm not the biggest fan of this guy but c'mon WWE your fooling nobody.
You know WHY WWE can get away with this, it's cause Warriors an easy target. WWE couldn't get along with him, the troublemakers at WCW used him, TNA Impact gave him a hard time and that with his recent speaking tours where he lets loose with some inflamitory things, makes him okay to target. Try doing this with an equally big name in the business like Hogan, make a DVD about all his backstage politicking and frail ego or how guys like Benoit and Kidman never got a break with him around. You'll never see it happen.
Purely a curiosity and nothing more, it WAS fun to see old WWE footage but thats about it. Don't waste your time. Get a TNA Impact PPV or ECW dvds or hell get some shoot DVDs from a website or tape trader, but leave this one alone.

From "The Ultimate Challenge" To "10 Years In The Making".......2006-09-05
Now I'll be honest, I didn't buy the DVD set (I have the WM 1-13 VHS set from almost 10 years ago) so I don't know what's been edited or changed as far as theme music or anything of that nature.
WrestleMania 6 - The Ultimate Challege was the first international WrestleMania and was a very unique WrestleMania as there was a main event that was never seen or done before on many levels & also another attempt of a new era in the WWF without Hogan as it's champion. Standout matches include Tag Team Champions Andre & Haku vs. Demolition (only because it was Andre's last in-ring appearence), Brutus Beekcake vs. Mr. Perfect, Roddy Piper vs. Bad News Brown (for those who like brawls), Dusty Rhodes & Sapphire vs. Randy Savage & Sherri, Jake Roberts vs. Ted Dibiase, and the Title vs. Title match between WWF Champion Hulk Hogan & I.C. Champion Ultimate Warrior in a rare "good guy vs. good guy" match were the crowd was split between the two & was Hogan's first clean pinfall loss since his return to WWF in '83.
WrestleMania 7 - This was most memorable as WWF's attempt to capitalize on the Gulf War in Iraq through the main event storyline & the theme "Stars & Stripes Forever". The standout matches here were Tag Team Champions Hart Foundation (in their last PPV match) vs. Nasty Boys, Undertaker vs. Jimmy Snuka (only because this began Taker's undefeated streak), Ultimate Warrior vs. Randy Savage in a retirement match and the aftermath that had everyone in the arena crying, Intercontinental Champion Mr. Perfect vs. Big Boss Man (with the last PPV appearence of Andre The Giant), Virgil vs. Ted Dibiase, and WWF Champion Sgt. Slaughter vs. Hulk Hogan.
WrestleMania 8 - WWF's first ever attempt at the "double main event" & this event had a lot of short average matches, some comedic standouts, and the exit of Hulk Hogan, the elevation of Sid as a monster heel, & the return of the Ultimate Warrior (all of which didn't last long). Standout matches here were Tito Santana vs. Shawn Michaels (the beginning of his singles career), Intercontinental Champion Roddy Piper vs. Bret Hart, and WWF Champion Ric Flair vs. Randy Savage.
WrestleMania 9 - WWF went to Las Vegas for this one & back in time to the roman days at Ceasar's Palace with many memorable moments such as Hogan's last WM appearence for almost a decade, the debut of Jim Ross (in a toga), and the entrances of Savage & Heenan. Standout matches were Intercontinental Champion Shawn Michaels vs. Tatanka, Steiner Bros vs. Headshrinkers, Tag Team Champions Money Inc. vs. Hogan & Beefcake, and Mr. Perfect vs. Lex Luger.
WrestleMania 10 - WWF went back to Madison Square Garden with this 10 year anniversary (eventhough WM11 technically would have been the 10 year anniversary) show featuring highlights from the previous WM's throughout the night. The standout matches here were Bret vs. Owen, Randy Savage vs. Crush in a Falls Count Anywhere match (Savage's last WM appearence), the Intercontinental Ladder match between HBK & Razor Ramon, and WWF Champion Yokozuna vs. Bret Hart with Roddy Piper as the referee.
This set of WrestleMania's were a step below the first five but better than the next 5. I would say this is section is for old school fans of the early '90's.
WWE Wrestlemania Anthology ... Worth the Money!.......2006-03-20
I waited a long time for the WWE to release WrestleMania I-XIV on DVD. I must say that overall I was not disappointed. Each WrestleMania is shown in its entirety (with the exception of WrestleMania XI). The WrestleMania DVDs show the original television broadcasts. I owned just about every WrestleMania in their original VHS format. The older tapes of the shows they released were heavily edited in order to fit the program on one cassette. They even edited some matches to make them shorter. The only way you could see all these matches in their entirety was to watch the original television broadcasts ... until now!
Now, here is what is what is wrong with the DVD sets:
-Entrance music for a lot of Superstars is dubbed over with crappy, generic music so the WWE would not have to pay royalties to use these songs.
-Any verbal reference to WWF is edited out
-WrestleMania XIV-X8 blurs out the WWF scratched logo
-The Salt N' Pepper performance at WrestleMania XI was completely taken out so the WWE would not have to pay them royalties
-There are no extra features whatsoever ... just the event itself for every WrestleMania
I hated that all this great entrance music was taken out. The edited out the entrance music to Slick's "Jive Soul Bro," HillBilly Jim's "Country Boy," Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, Demolition, Big Boss Man's "Hard Time," and Ric Flair's original entrance music to name just a few. I really miss "Jive Soul Bro!" I would have shelled out more dough for these DVDs if they ensured all the old theme music was included. The blurred out WWF scratched logo is annoying but bearable.
Personally, I only purchased the first three box sets of WrestleMania I-XV because I already owned WresteMania XV-21 on DVD. If you would prefer to own copies without all the WWF references edited out, I recommend you do the same and try to buy the original WresteleMania DVD releases off of Amazon or eBay for XV-21. Plus, you miss out on a ton of DVD extras that the original DVD releases are packed with.
Regardless of the gigs I give this box set, I highly recommend to add these DVDs to your collection if you are a professional wrestling fan. Every single match and interview is shown in its entirety. Plus, it is the only way you will get these classic WrestleMania's in DVD format.
WM Anthology Vol 2 - "10 Years In The Making".......2005-11-07
At last, here it is. Every WrestleMania to date. Volume 2 features WrestleMania's 6-10. They are on 5 separate discs, the first 2 of which are double sided, & all appear to be in their entirety. On the plus side, there is very little visual editing, except a few signs here & there that actually say "WWF". Logos however are not blurred. Another plus - Jesse Ventura's commentary is in tact. However, no WW'E' disc these days would be complete without some kinda editing though, & most here is in the audio area, in particular entrance music. Demolition, Akeem, Big Bossman, & Jimmy Snuka (I think that's it) all have their music replaced with generic guitar riffs, & Howard Finkle's announcing is redone for those particular guys, making it sound more like a video game announcer.
There are some incredible moments in this WrestleMania set that still sent shivers down my spine, & I'd like to share some of those moments:
WrestleMania VI - I was a huge fan of Demolition & the Ultimate Warrior. Demolition winning the Tag Title for the 3rd time & the epic Title for Title match still give me goosebumps.
WrestleMania VII - Another Warrior moment (& more shivers) in the Retirement Match vs Randy Savage.
WrestleMania VIII - Bret Hart vs Roddy Piper almost made me cry, along with Randy Savage recapturing the Heavyweight Title, & the brief return if the Warrior to help the 'retiring' Hulk Hogan from a 2 sided attack.
WrestleMania IX - Honestly, not too much sticks out here. I was actually hoping Yokozuna would hold the title for a little longer than the few seconds that he did.
WrestleMania X - Bret Hart pulls double duty, putting on an amazing match against his brother to open the event, & a Heavyweight Title win to close the event, plus the amazing Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Title.
In all, I can't complain. Entrance music editing aside, these were very nicely done. Quite highly recommended.
One good WrestleMania.......2005-11-04
The WrestleMaina featuring Hogan vs Slaughter as the main even is probably the greatest WrestleMaina out there. Alot of good matches but the rest of the set is lackluster. It was a dark period for WWE in 92 and 93 and the WrestleMaina's will show that.

One of the most boring shows mankind could watch.......2006-02-26
I'm sorry for all the nostalgic people, but this is garbage. Even though, this was a huge show, huge arena, big atmosphere, there was only one good match. Every single match behind it was bad. The good match was Hulk Hogan vs Ultimate Warrior for the WWE Championship (then WWF). I'd give it ***1/2 stars because the crowd is very into it, and it developed well. But the rest is hard to watch, especially for someone who didn't watching wrestling for 15 years. All of these matches are boring and slow. This is one of the worst WrestleManias ever. Out of the late 80's - early 90's shows, I would recommend WrestleMania 7 which was way better (it had Hart Foundation vs Nasty Boys, Warrior vs Randy Savage in one of the 1991 Matches of the year, and it had Hogan vs Sgt. Slaughter). Or get WrestleMania 8 which was also boring, BUT had 2 great matches (Piper vs Hart, Flair vs Savage). Otherwise, avoid this tape. And the main event is already available on the Self Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior DVD AND the upcoming Hogan Anthology dvd.
I hope I helped you save some money.
Wrestlemania 6 Review.......2005-10-24
My reviews are out of 5
1. Rick Martel vs. Koko B. Ware 2 stars
2. Demolition Ax and Demolition Smash vs. Andre The Giant and Haku 1 star.. This match sucked...Andre's health was going downhill in this time of his life.. R.I.P Andre
3. Earthquake vs. Hercules 1 star.. Squash stuff
4. Brutus The Barber Beefcake vs. Mr. Perfect 2 1/4 stars.. Not good and not bad.. Borderline
5. Bad News Brown vs. Rowdy Roddy Piper.. 2 stars.. Piper deserved better for Wrestlemania
6. Bret Hart and Jim The Anvil Neidhart vs. Nikolai Volkoff and Boris Zhukov-- 1 3/4 stars.. Sorry Bret.. You're my favorite but Vince only gave you a minute..?.. Didn't have time to develop. Nor did Bret have good opponents......
7. Tito Santana vs. The Barbarian- 4 stars.. Yup you got me right.. This match was a great match.. This, in my opinion would be an excellent opener.. Of course Tito took the beating for Barbarian, made him look good, and basically carried this match.. Thats why Tito is another one of the most underrated wrestlers of all time.. Good match...
8. Dusty Rhodes and Sapphire vs. Macho Man and Sensational Sherri-- 1 stars.. This match is very boring.. Macho and Dusty deserved better.. This match is so boring that I've never completed this match without the fast forward button
9. Tanaka and Sato vs. Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty-- I give this match 3 stars.. I enjoyed this match.. And by the way Marty was the main attraction to the Rockers.. And the reason why Shawn took all the bumps is because Marty was older and always hurt.. Marty is another underrated wrestler.. Good match
10. Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs. Dino Bravo-- Sorry Duggan.. I like your gimmick... But this match gets a 1.. This was a waste
11. Ted Dibiase vs. Jake The Snake Roberts-- This match was sorry in my opinion.. It gets a 1 3/4.. The reason why is it had a few moments but then nothing.. Plus Dibiase is another underrated wrestler.
12. Akeem vs. Big Boss Man- How in the hell can this be the second to last match.. This match was the worse on the card.. So bad I give it 0 points
13. Jimmy Snuka vs. Rick Rude-- I did enjoy this match as well.. Snuka jobbed to another underrated wrestler in Rick Rude.. I give it 2 3/4 stars.
14. Ultimate Warrior vs. Hulk Hogan-- Well well.. This was the best on the card.. Crowd was into it.. And Warrior "wrestled" good tonight and so did Hogan.. People say Warrior repeated moves.. Blah Blah. I say that he put on a good match.. The only thing is.. Warrior was consistently not a good wrestler.. Wrestlemania 7 with Savage beat this.. I'm sorry here this match was really good and kept me on my heels.. 5 stars.. And I'm not being generous either...
ok bad bad bad bad.......2005-07-27
1st off hogan vs warrior worst wm main event of all time hell brock vs goldburg was better then this trash just shows u how bad they are.do not buy this tape.hogan vs andre was a better match then this.
Any True Wrestling Fan.......2005-05-14
This was without a doubt an action packed spectacular PPV that was/is truly great not only for its current time, but also for today. Aside from the obvious main event between Hogan and the Warrior, there were other truly fantastic ones such as: Jake The Snake and The Million Dollar Man, Big Boss Man and Akeem, The infamous mixed tag match and one of the greatest tag team title matches of all time! There was truly great creativity involved in this one, as it unfolded into a masterpiece, that has made legendary history, and is a great collecters item.
Wrestlemania VI - The Ultimate Challenge.......2005-05-04
From the Toronto Skydome in April of 1990, this sixth rendition of Wrestlemania should be considered fairly solid entertainment, due to the presence of some entertaining matches mixed with several lackluster ones. As a result, it ranks somewhere in the middle of the road when compared to other Wrestlemania's.
Here is our rating of the matches on a scale of 1 to 10:
1. Koko B. Ware vs. Rick "The Model" Martel: 7/10
A decent opening match -- Martel wins by submission.
WWF Tag Team Title Match:
2. Demolition vs. Champions the Colossal Connection
(Andre the Giant & Haku) w/ Bobby Heenan: 4.5/10
The match should more accurately be billed as Demolition vs. Haku. As you may know, Demolition gets a three-peat as champions, but Andre grabs the spotlight as the crowd favorite at the end by disposing of Heenan and Haku after they blame him for the loss.
3. Earthquake w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Hercules Hernandez: 5/10
Hernandez's wily enthusiasm initially is entertaining, but the match ends as another squash for Earthquake.
4. "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig w/ "The Genius" Lanny Poffo vs. Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake: 8/10
Surprisingly good! Beefcake snares the upset win over Hennig. In the post-match shenanigans, Hennig heads for the showers while Brutus escorts the hapless "Genius" back to the barbershop.
5. Roddy Piper vs. Bad News Brown: 4/10
Despite some decent chemistry together, their wild brawl ends in a pointless double count-out.
6. The Hart Foundation vs. the Bolsheviks: 5/10
Comedian Steve Allen has some musical fun in the locker room at the Bolsheviks' expense just before they go out and drop a fast one to the Harts. The only reasons we rate this one as high as a "5" is for Allen's tongue-in-cheek participation and that Bret Hart mercifully saved viewers from watching a likely terrible match by ending it in mere seconds.
7. Tito Santana vs. the Barbarian w/ Bobby Heenan: 7.5/10
Much better than expected. Despite a valiant effort, Santana's losing streak at Wrestlemania inexplicably continues.
8. Randy Savage & Scary Sherri vs. Dusty Rhodes & Sapphire (with surprise guest Elizabeth): 6/10
Awful match. The "6" rating is probably generous if only for Elizabeth's classy presence and the fiery Savage's valiant efforts to salvage what little spark he can from this tag team debacle.
9. The Rockers vs. the Orient Express: 7.5/10
Pretty routine stuff, but at least it is worth watching. The Orient Express steal a surprise count-out victory over Michaels & Jannetty.
10. "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan vs. Dino Bravo: 2/10
Have 2 x 4, will travel, as Duggan loses by DQ. The Earthquake then makes a cameo appearance to squash Duggan for no apparent reason in this subpar brawl.
11. Ted DiBiase w/ Virgil vs. Jake "The Snake Roberts: 8/10
One of the event's best matches ends in a count-out win for DiBiase, but Roberts then gives his nemesis a crowd-pleasing payback (pardon the pun) by stuffing a wad of cash in an "unconscious" DiBiase's mouth.
12. Big Bossman vs. Akeem: 1.5/10
After DiBiase makes a surprise appearance, it seems like a good time to make a break for the refrigerator.
** Rhythm & Blues (Honky Tonk & Greg Valentine) "perform" their new song before being interrupted by the Bushwhackers. Also, look fast for Diamond Dallas Page driving the pink caddy, which brings the villains to ringside. 3/10
13. Rick Rude vs. Jimmy Snuka: 3/10
Rude wins in a dull filler match.
WWF Championship vs. Intercontinental Championship Match
14. Hulk Hogan vs. the Ultimate Warrior: 8.5/10
It resembles a plodding game of "H-O-R-S-E" watching Hogan and the Warrior trade their best moves. Still, the match is exceptionally good considering the participants involved. Hogan does deserve credit for appearing to surrender the WWF World Title with grace in the Warrior's shining moment.
Overall, if you can find "Wrestlemania VI" for a reasonable price, it should be worth your investment as long as you keep moderate expectations.
Also, as a note, beware of the cheap E.P. mode with this video: the picture quality will not likely hold up over time.

A few good matches, but overall mediocre........2007-06-25
WCW FALL BRAWL 1993:
This was the first annual Fall Brawl Pay Per View from WCW. It featured War Games, which had been held for the last two years at the Wrestle War event. That event was not held in 1993 or any year after, so I suppose you could say that Fall Brawl replaced it.
The first bout is for the WCW TV Title, Ricky Steamboat vs. Lord Steven Regal. This match was good and was one of the better bouts on the card. Steamboat is one of my favorite wrestlers of all time and seeing him compete against Regal was interesting. Regal was pretty new to WCW at this time and Steamboat was a great test for him. Both men delivered in my view. A good way to start the show.
Next was Charlie Norris vs. Big Skye. About the only interesting thing I can mention about this match is that Big Skye is Tyler Mane, who will play the new Michael Myers in Rob Zombie's Halloween in a couple months. Norris was seemingly being pushed by WCW during this time, but never got anywhere in the company. Nothing much to see here.
Too Cold Scorpio and Marcus Bagwell vs. Paul Orndorff and The Equalizer was next. I always liked Scorpio and Bagwell as a team during this time, and I felt they had some good matches. This one however seemed oddly booked to me; mostly because of The Equalizer. It's certainly better than the previous bout, but nothing that really stands out.
Ice Train vs. Tex Slashinger was another match (like Norris vs. Big Skye) that was seemingly booked just to put over a young star that WCW felt was going to hit it big. Again however, nothing ever really happened with Ice Train in the company until his return in 1996 where he formed Fire and Ice with Scott Norton.
Arn Anderson and Paul Roma vs. The Nasty Boys for the WCW Tag Titles was next. This match was alright, but not on the level of Anderson and Roma's match with The Hollywood Blondes at the previous PPV. Still, it did contain some sound tag team wrestling at times. This match was Missy Hyatt's debut as the manager of The Nasty Boys.
Cactus Jack vs. Yoshi Kwan was built as a Bounty Match. Kwan and Vader were both managed at this time by Harley Race and this was following the amnesia angle with Jack after Vader had put him out of action for many months. This wasn't a bad match, but it's fault was that it was too short. However, it's main purpose was to be an obstacle for Jack leading up to his much better match with Vader at Halloween Havoc.
Next was Ric Flair vs. Rick Rude for the "World Heavyweight Title". They could no longer call it the NWA Title, since WCW and NWA parted due to issues over how the belt was being used on television. I really liked this match a lot. Not only was Flair and Rude an interesting bout, but I felt they worked well together. Not only here, but at the next PPV as well. Overall, I would say it was pretty solid wrestling and a lot of humor provided by Jesse Ventura's commentary.
The main event was of course War Games: Sting/The British Bulldog/Dustin Rhodes/The Shockmaster vs. Vader/Sid Vicious/Harlem Heat. The lead up to this match was infamous for having the botched Shockmaster angle. Road Warrior Animal accompanied Sting's team to ringside. Too bad he was injured at this point in his career, or he could have replaced The Shockmaster in this match any day of the week and made the bout 50% better in my eyes. All I can say is that War Games in 1991 had a lot of emotion surrounding Brian Pillman, and War Games 1992 in my opinion was the best War Games match since the original one in 1987. Unfortunately, this match isn't good nor does it have much emotion. I kind of got a paint by numbers feeling from the guys involved here and the ending is really disappointing.
I guess the only thing good about it, was that it could be noted as the first big break in WCW for Harlem Heat. They certainly would go on to be a major asset for WCW in tag teams and Booker T. would become a great Champion in my view.
Two good title matches, and one okay tag match. Other than that, it was pretty mediocre at best.

Great Effort By All Those Involved...Except Andre & Zues.......2007-03-01
This S. Series was full of first. The matches WERE NOT edited on the tape, Hogan wasn't in the main event, and they stared using team names to make it come off as a real team concept. As usual, all the matches were given enough time to actually be something worth watching. The only complain I have is that for both main events, they did the same type of elimination in which they took out the strongest "heel" within the first minute under shady circumstances.
Dream Team vs. Enforcers: American Dream" Dusty Rhodes, Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake, Tito Santana, & The Red Rooster vs. Big Bossman, Bad News Brown, The Honky Tonk Man & Rick "The Model" Martel - There were no real highlights in this match although it was just solid from beginning to end & a good opener.
This match is also available on the Dusty Rhodes DVD.
King's Court vs. 4x4's: "Macho King" Randy Savage, Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, Dino Bravo, & Earthquake vs. "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, "Rugged" Ronnie Garvin, Bret "Hitman" Hart, & Hercules - Aside from the funny promos where Bret Hart acted like his 2x4 was a machine gun, this match again was solid as the highlight here was the interaction between Savage & Hart.
Hulkamaniacs vs. Million $ Team: WWF Champion Hulk Hogan, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, & WWF Tag Team Champions Demolition (Ax & Smash) vs. "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase, Zeus, & The Powers of Pain (Barbarian & Warlord) - This was the first of two times in the night that WWF would tease the next chapter of an ongoing fued only to eliminate the "monster" heel quickly. The less said about the Hogan/Zues fued, the better but Zues was eliminated in the first minute by DQ. After that, Hogan's team was dominated for the most part by Dibiase's team (including Demolition being eliminated) until the referee disqualified both Powers Of Pain at the same time while Dibiase eliminated Roberts leaving a Hogan vs. Dibiase. Hogan would eventually win (like always) but the result was a little disappointing since the match seemed heavily one-sided with all of Dibiase's team being disqualified while Hogan's team was eliminated by pinfalls.
Rude's Brood vs. Roddy's Rowdies: Rude's Brood: "Ravishing" Rick Rude, Mr. Perfect, & The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers (Raymond & Jacques Rougeau) vs. "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka, & The Bushwhackers (Luke & Butch) - Before I get started, listen to Jesse Ventura throughout this match for comic relief as he kept attempting to say the name of Piper's team but just couldn't get it right. Not only was the commentary entertaining but so was the match as well. They were teasing tension between Heenan & Rude (Heenan didn't come out to ringside) along with the shock that all of Piper's team dominated the match in the early stages eliminating both Rougeau Brothers. From there, the match really takes off after both Bushwackers were eliminated followed by the Rude/Piper brawl leaving us with a Snuka/Perfect finish.
Ultimate Warriors vs. Heenan Family: The Ultimate Warrior, Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart, & The Rockers (Shawn Michaels & Marty Jannetty) vs. Andre the Giant, Haku, Arn Anderson, & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan - Just like with the Hogan/Zues confrontation, WWF had it so Andre would be eliminated within the first minute by countout. A majority of the match would be Arn Anderson being the workhorse of the team while Bobby Heenan would just stay on the apron being a coward until the end when Anderson got eliminated & Warrior just destroyed Heenan. I believe this is Anderson's last performance in WWF as he quickly went back to the NWA and had a cameo appearence at Starrcade the next month.
Overall, this was a fun Survivor Series overall & one I would recommend going out of the way to buy the VHS tape if you can't wait for the DVD Anthology.
Survivor Series 1989: Five Matches, 10 Teams.......2004-09-22
From Chicago, the third rendition of the annual Survivor Series features five well-designed matches, as each team is given a chance to shine. An added bonus is that the teams are each designated with fun nicknames.
Unfortunately, the ever-present (and nauseating) hype for the next upcoming chapter of the Hogan vs. Zeus saga is an obvious detriment. If this supposed super-feud had any legitimacy (even in WWF terms), then why wasn't their Survivor team match the logical main event? Instead, the Ultimate Warrior gets the main event nod and proceeds to squander it with a lackluster effort.
1. The Dream Team (Dusty Rhodes, Tito Santana, Red Rooster, & Brutus Beefcake) vs. the Enforcers (Rick Martel, Big Bossman, Bad News Brown, & Honky Tonk): 3 1/2 ***
A solid opening match kicks off the event in style. Rhodes & Beefcake, in the end, prevail against the overmatched Bossman.
2. The 4 x 4's (Hacksaw Duggan, Bret Hart, Ronnie Garvin, & Hercules) vs. the King's Court (Randy Savage, Dino Bravo, Earthquake & Greg Valentine): 4 1/2 ****
Savage vs. Hart is the highlight here, although it is too bad that the match doesn't end with a face-off between them. Instead, the end result looks like a squash as Savage's team wins somewhat easily. Still, it is an excellent effort from both teams.
3. The Hulkamaniacs (WWF Champion Hulk Hogan, Jake Roberts, & WWF Tag Team Champions Demolition) vs. The Million $ Team (Ted DiBiase, Zeus, & the Powers of Pain): 4 1/2 ****
As you may have guessed, it is mostly the Hulk Hogan show. The WWF, to its credit, though, allows Hogan to appear weak in comparison to Zeus and the Powers, which helps set up the match's finale (a showdown between the injured WWF Champion and the ruthless DiBiase).
Hogan eventually defeats DiBiase in the end (no surprise), but it is a solid finish to arguably the best match of the event.
4. Roddy's Rowdies (Roddy Piper, Jimmy Snuka, & the Bushwhackers) vs. the Rude Brood (Rick Rude, Mr. Perfect, & the Rougeaus): 4 ****
I would rate this one, surprisingly, as the event's most entertaining match. as the obnoxious villains meet some wild opposition. The Rowdies initially get plenty of biting action, but the Rude Brood slowly puts Roddy's team away for the win.
5. The Warriors (I-C Champion Ultimate Warrior, Jim Neidhart, & the Rockers) vs. the Heenan gang (Arn Anderson, Haku, Andre, & Bobby Heenan): 3 ***
Tully Blanchard is a no-show here, so Heenan takes his place. Andre is then knocked out within the first minute. After that, the match is fairly good. The Warrior, in limited action, displays once again that he is a poor man's Sting, and doesn't exert much effort as the match's star player.
Anderson, Haku, and the Rockers, however, do the bulk of the work to keep the match flowing, and put forth an excellent effort. The sub-plot features Anderson's increasing frustration about being stuck with Heenan as his tag partner. In the end, the Warrior crushes Heenan for the win.
Overall, it is a great event with only a few lame spots (involving Zeus and/or Hogan & Beefcake). We recommend locating a copy if you can find a reasonable price.
Great video from a what looks to be a armory.......2003-03-13
I don'y know why but this PPV looks like it was taped in a bingo hall or something. This was the PPV where Hogan and Zues where feuding. Also Where the Hitman started the buzz about being a singles wrestle. The highlight being The Warriors vs The Heenan Family. Andre gets taken out within the first minute and Arn Anderson has to make up for most of the team. The Rockers' deliver a good preformance and in the end the Warrior destroys Bobby Heenan (his last active match), awesome PPV.
