Well this one was kind of old school animation but if you can get over that and the occasional weakness in the plot it has lots of intrigue and action and stuff. Not quite as funny as some of the other Lupin movies but thats just my opinion. No nudity was a plus.

How many Lupin movies are their.......2006-03-01

This is what Lupin is all about: good action, great comedy, a nice plot, and wonderful characters all are presented in this movie. Crisis in Tokyo is heavy on comedy, but it also has pleanty of action. Character designs are wonderful Fujiko looks stunning. The Animation is well done and the backgrounds look great.

Now This is Some Good Lupin!.......2005-09-08

This is what Lupin is all about: good action, great comedy, a nice plot, and wonderful characters, all of which are present in Crisis in Tokyo, and then some.

Crisis in Tokyo is heavy on the comedy, but it also has plenty of action. Character designs are wonderful here; Fujiko looks absolutely stunning. Animation is also well done, and backgrounds look good.

In this special, Lupin is after two items called the Tatsumi and Inui of Yoshinobu, which are two photographic plates that are supposed to point out the location of the a rumored treasure of massive proportions. With Goemon and Fujiko no where in sight, Lupin has to count on Jigen for help, but Jigen is not being much helpful, as he has a bad toothache that lowers his skills as a sharpshooter.

The Tatsumi and Inui of Yoshinobu are in the possession of a man called Michael Suzuki, who's also the owner of the upcoming Aquatower Hotel and Theme Park, where much of the events unfold. He is also the main villain of this special, and has a lot in store for the Lupin crew.

Fujiko shows up and invites Lupin and Jigen to a bar to catch up on old times. As it turns out, she is also after the Tatsumi and Inui, and she has Goemon on her side this time. The scene in which this happens is my favorite scene: not only does it have a wonderful atmosphere and outstanding background music (which can be found on the Lupin the Third Jazz CD), but seeing all four character just sitting down, enjoying a drink, and conversing is really something else! Jigen's conversation with Goemon in regards to Goemon's reason for teaming up with the dubious Fujiko is especially hilarious. Goemon has gotten his sword stolen for him to be put on display at the Aquatower Hotel, and as such, has been rendered somewhat useless, though not entirely, and so he teamed up with Fujiko in hopes of retrieving it.

Thus, plans are made, and events unfold with some very interesting results and many unexpected turns.

A new character is introduced in this special by the name of Maria! She is not on Lupin's side this time, but on Zenigata's, which is a nice touch. Maria is a great character with a wonderful and touching back-story that has much to do with the final outcome, but I won't spoil it for you.

This special is just plain entertaining! From the music, to the characters, to the animation, to the action, to the comedy, and many more wonderful elements, it would be a crime not to see it!

So save yourself from the wrath of Zenigata (whom we see much more of in this special) and get yourself a copy of Crisis in Tokyo! You will certainly not regret it!

Hilarious!.......2007-04-16

Gotta love those aliens! I could not stop laughing. If you are a fan of the series (or have never seen it), this is a great buy. Just enough to give you a taste if you have never watched it or just enough if you are liked me and miss the show terribly.

Ok, but several things bothered me about it..........2006-12-07

When I first did this workout I thought it was an interesting change from my regular workouts, definately energizing, and the use of the light 2 and 5 pound weights for arm toning was great. What bothered me about it was that the instructor, although perky & likeable enough, was not pregnant and looks barely out of high school. On rare occasions a small pop-up window shows the 3rd trimester pregnant woman, but for one she's wearing black dumpy clothes so you can hardly see her belly (presumably so she won't distract from the instructor in her sassy workout clothes) and for two she seems way more in shape than any average pregnant woman. Also, there are no heartrate checks - just reminders to listen to how you feel.

After several days of doing this workout I started feeling like maybe it was just too intense for a 7 month pregnant woman on her second pregnancy. If you're in great shape already this might be for you, but if you're just the average gal in average shape I'd skip it. I'd feel a little better about it if she really was pregnant but in the end I just can't trust the judgement of someone who has never experienced what it's really like and what you can reasonably expect your body to do safely.

A Good Workout.......2006-03-31

I am ending my first trimester and was excited to try a new workout program. Not only is this great for when you are pregnant but it will be a great workout tool even after I have the baby. It was quick yet covered the total body. I would recommend this series to anyone looking to stay fit during and after your pregnancy.

Good classic anime Tv series.......2006-03-17

I loved this show based in the comic books of Monkey Punch.It follows the adventures of master thief Lupin the Third nephew of the French Arsene Lupin and his gang composed by Goemon Ishikawa a master samurai and Deitsuke Jigen a cold blooded gunman.Sometimes joins to the band Fujiko Mine a bussom beautiful lady expert in conning and also thieving.Where the most valuable or expensive treasure or antique is Lupin the Third and his gang trying to rob it.The Dvd has 5 episodes that are in order as they originally broadcasted with the preview and even the commercials break.The series are well translated and the voices of the dubbers are quite similar to original japanese.The only flaw in this Dvd is that the English subtitles are the translation of the Japanese version not the English dubbed version.Sound and picture quality are more than average.I will wait for next volume.

An Interesting, Though Flawed Document.......2001-03-13

The primary attraction of this video is that it provides a visual document of some of the greatest German conductors of the century. For those interested in how a conductor "looked" when leading an orchestra, this is an interesting documentary (particuarly for Furtwangler, whose style is the definition of idiosyncratic). The performances are uniformly superb, and provide a captivating contrast with the orchestral style heard(and seen) today in most major symphonies. Therefore, as a muscial document, this video is highly recommended.

However, as a historical documentary, it is deeply flawed. There is no narration, and only minimal information on the subtitles. Historical context is also missing from most of the performances. Because this video is a release from a company specializing in musical performances and not history, this is perhaps not surprising, however it is disappointing.

Equally disappointing is the booklet by "expert" Frederic Spotts. Spotts suffers from a failing common to many of those who write about virtually anything related to the Third Reich. He presents a cartoon image of the persons described (in this case the conductors who chose to remain in Germany under Nazi rule), and therefore does nothing to help understand how such a monstrous regime could gain power in a country like Germany. Perhaps this is asking too much from a sixteen page booklet, however besides basic biographical information, this booklet is completely dispensible.

One final criticism. I realize that musical performances from wartime Germany are perhaps quite rare, but couldn't the documentary makers have considered other performances besides the 800 "Meistersinger" preludes included here?

All that being said, there is one performance that is worth the price of admission. Wilhelm Furtwangeler conducting the Berlin Philharmonic at the AEG factory in 1942 is simply fascinating. The performance is spectacular, the image of the symphony performing in front of Nazi banners is deeply disturbing, and the extended views of the factory workers, whose faces seem to show the first signs of recognition that Germany will lose the war, are not to be missed.

Ill-considered........2001-03-12

With all the copious information provided in recent years, it is ill-considered to portray Karajan as a musician in the service of theThird Reich. For those who insist on believing this man was a wicked Nazi I would beseech you to investigate the facts for yourselves. Karajan never once performed with Hitler in attendence, and he never once displayed any activity that could be interpreted as "a political sympathizer". Truth is, Karajan was rather disliked by the Third Reich---he was, in fact, married to a woman with Jewish blood at that time and was stunted in his musical ambitions by Furtwangler and his governmental supporters. Karajan's files from the Third Reich are extremely thin and contain nothing to support the sensationalism that follows him to this day---and who kept more detailed files than the Nazis? In short: the inaccuracies, the misrepresentations, and the incorrect gathering of facts are defamatory to a man whose talents remain largely unequalled.

A wonderful documentary on this specific conductor is available through this site, simply called "Herbert von Karajan", and produced by Kultur video.

Great story for kids.......2000-08-02

I loved this cartoon since I was a kid myself and now I am about to get it for my own child. I was mystified by this science fiction story and watched it at least 20 times. I think kids under 6 or 7 years old may be too young to get it. There is practically no violience, but a lot of great plot and humor in this story.

3-Deeerific! .......2004-11-30

"Third Rock from the Sun" started as a mid-season replacement that looked to be lost amists the plethora of "Seinfeld" clones that were ruling the network airwaves. But it's old fashioned approach to humor (slapstick) & over-the-top characters made it a standout for a few seasons.

A true highlight is this wonderful hour-long show in which our four fave resident aliens experience their first encounter with dreams. Since they do not understand that dreaming is normal, they are planning on going back to their homeworld for "repairs". Dick (the always looney John Lithgow), fearful that he'll never see his beloved Mary (Jane Curtin) again, asks for her hand in marraige. Much to the dissapointment of Dick's family.

The show itself is razor sharp with plenty of great character moments and funny lines, but the real highlight are the four "dream" sequences that each character experiences. They were filmed after the sit-com part of the show was complete and are in "3-D".

Dick's dream reflects his paranoid nature with scenes of entrapment and torture, the best part is Jane Curtain as a Marlena Dietrich-ish dominatrix. Tommy's dream takes him from school to the big city & eventually the ocean as his favorite teacher seduces him on an island. Harry's dream is the most fun with him performaing an original Randy Nueman song (complete with the composer appearing briefly in the dream).

But Sally's dream is the true highlight, a ribald take on Fellini's movies. The music is straight from Fellini's masterpiece "La Strada" and Sally dances with her long-suffering love "Donatello" (the always hilarious Wayne Knight).

For "3rd Rock" fans, this is a must for your collection and a wonderful introduction for those who enjoy good 'ol fashioned humor delivered at top volume.
