5 out of 5 stars Lord of the Dance.......2007-06-27

This was a gift for my young 10 year old grand child who has been doing Irish dancing for 5 years. This DVD has been a great inspiration for she and her friends. It is very exciting viewing for the adults too.

4 out of 5 stars The Michael Flatley Collection.......2007-06-12

It is enough to buy just "Feet of flames". It's his summit of glory the rest is reiteration. DVD was interesting to watch though even the same theme in different variations. The bad thing was that DVD I got has a defect. One of first dances stops in begining with pixels on the screen. But becouse disk has some reiterations I was able to wach it in another episode.

5 out of 5 stars Great Dancing.......2007-04-02

This was a very good DVD for the money. I loved Riverdance and I had a VHS copy of Lord Of The Dance. My nieces both dance and enjoyed watching this with me.

5 out of 5 stars Takes your breath away.......2007-03-09

This review and replay of various versions of Lord of the Dance, is without question, a must for a DVD library. Be prepared to spend an entire evening being captivated by Michael Flatly. Absolutely superb!!

5 out of 5 stars The Greatest Bargain Under the Sun.......2007-03-08

Without a doubt, this DVD has to be the greatest bargain ever. Three videos(over 5 hours) of Michael Flatley dancing and discussing his music career for under $15 is unbelievable.

An expanded and more polished version of Lord of the Dance, Feet of Flames was recorded at an outdoor performance in London's Hyde Park. While much of the material is familiar to Flatley fans, the production is superior in every way. It's better photographed and the editing is less frenetic. The individual segments are sharper, more self-assured, as is Flatley, who also produced and directed this version. (He also demonstrates his talents as a flutist--maybe he should call himself Lord of the Renaissance.) The outdoor setting also makes the show feel less like a Vegas act, though the proceedings have about as much relation to their Celtic folk roots as the Broadway musical Cats has to the T.S. Eliot children's poems on which it was based. --Richard Natale

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Awsome!.......2007-03-16

I think everybody who loves dancing will absolutely love the show. Music is just wonderful and performance as well. I know I'll never get sick watching it over and over again.

5 out of 5 stars The Lord is back! :).......2006-01-08

Michael Flatley did it again. So you liked Lord of the Dance? Now imagine the same except with twice as many dancers on stage! And with more high-tech equipment. Fancier costumes. There are some extra scenes and some that changed since the Lord of the Dance but the story is basically the same. The quality of the dvd seems to be better too.

And yet, if you ask me, I liked the original Lord of the Dance better. Flatley seems to care about all the sparkling and 3-level-stage and whatnot more than being on stage and dancing. He just seemed to enjoy himself more in Lord of the Dance.

5 out of 5 stars The Best, bar none.......2005-12-17

If there is only one Irish dance show to watch, this is it. Mark my words, there will never be an Irish dance show to top this one. For those unfamiliar, the Feet of Flames dvd is a recording of Michael Flatley's final performace as the "Lord of the Dance." This production is basically Lord of the Dance with a few new bells and whistles as well as an occasional surpise compared to its predecessor.

There are several Irish dance shows out there now but few can even be in the same room as Feet of Flames. Combining Lord of the Dance troupes 1 and 2, this performance is incredibly large. It also features the first official video recording of Flatley on the flute. One of his finale numbers, also called "Feet of Flames," shows the world the incredible foot speed and talent of its headliner.

Lastly, it was unique to see how the lead performers had "grown" from the few years of touring compared to their unsure and stoic expressions off the Lord of the Dance video. If any of the show's performers were in a shell of sorts before this video was made, they certainly found their way out from under it for Feet of Flames, (not to be confused with Flatley's Feet of Flames tour).

4 out of 5 stars A Great Theatrical Show.......2005-03-01

Like most people, I ridiculed Riverdance and everything of the like. But working in a store that sold this, I was absolutely floored by how awesome Michael Flatly's Feet of Flames was. This can not be compared to River Dance or Lord of the Dance (precurors to Feet of Flames). This is much more a show; kind of like the difference between Cirque Du Soleil's Saltimbanco and Quidam. The production value skyrockets and makes anything else (before it) look archaic.

Feet of Flames showcases MORE than just Celtic-style dancing. There are musical numbers by both a female duo and a solo singer. There IS some sort of story involved but I never focused too much on it. The dancing is fantastic. While the show is geared around Michael Flatly's skills, he does allow his other dancers to have some of the spotlight.

The interviews/making-of is quite insightful. Who would have though that Flatly loses several pounds (of water/sweat) during each performance? It's a wild show that showcases just how profitable 'riverdancing' can be. The sheer energy of the show, the performers and even the crowd will make you want to dance along with it.

2 out of 5 stars Lord of the, oh I mean Feet of Flames........2005-02-17

This should be titled Lord of the Dance not feet of flames. The two shows are almost identical. If youv'e seen Lord of the dance then you have seen Feet Of Flames. There are a few minor changes here and there but basically the same stuff. My biggest gripe is that Flatley seems way to full of himself in this one! I mean he is so in love with himself its anoying! I truely enjoyed his dancing in the original Riverdance filmed in Ireland, but id say after watching Feet of Flames he deserved getting bagged on by Mike Meyers!!! The sensuality is bit more ramped up in this show, and it reminds me more of Vegas show than anything else. Can someone please knock some sense into Flatley so he can fit his swelled up head through the door. That way I can go back to enjoying his dancing with out his puffed up ego!
