The DTC 1181 was designed to provide any ISA, VESA or PCI system with the enhanced drive parameter table (EDPT) and support for Logical BLock Addressing (LBA). EDPT and LBA support is necessary in order to support the new Enhanced IDE and Fast ATA IDE drives with capacities greater than 528MB. The System BIOS on a vast majority of ISA and VESA systems, currently do NOT allow drives with capacities over 528MB to access the full capacity. The best solution to this dilemma is the DTC EIDE BIOS Upgrade kit featuring DTC1181 BIOS board. Simply insert the DTC1181 into any available 8-bit ISA slot and set CMOS settings for your drive to Type 1. Now you can get full capacity out of your Enhanced IDE drive and also increase performance for your new EIDE drive.
