The eXtremeRAID 1100 incorporates the latest performance technology by using the fastest (233MHz) RISC processor on a PCI-based RAID solution, up to three 80MB/sec Ultra2 SCSI channels, and a 64bit PCI interface to provide eXtreme performance for servers. Additionally, the eXtremeRAID 1100 uses an integrated battery backup and SDRAM module. Other features such as hot spare and automatic rebuild allow the server to continue to operate when a drive fails. Mylex's eXtremeRAID 1100 has a multitude of fault detection and fault tolerance features, as well as new functions to ease setup, flexibility and management. The new Immediate RAID Availability (background initialization) feature enables other setup tasks to be performed while the rest of the system is being configured. RAID-expansion allows users to add drives to existing arrays and restripe data across all the drives. The additional storage space created by the new drive expands the capacity of the existing logical drive or creates an additional logical drive. Adding to the performance story is Mylex's award winning RAID firmware.
